HOLA! We woke up really early at 4 a.m. (our flight departs at 7a.m.) and depart from our hotel at 5 a.m. to airport by shuttle service. The journey took around 15-20 minutes if there's no traffic jam.

After our check in, we were wandering around looking for food.
Guess what?
We ended up having KFC as breakfast. Lol.

After an hour flight to Kuala Terengganu, we finally arrived around 8+ a.m.
We took Grab which cost about RM 10+ to Syah Bandar jetty. It took about half an hour to reach the jetty.
Again, it is the cheapest option(compared to shuttle service by our hotel Laguna Redang (RM 18 per person one way), and you have to book few days ahead. We called them to ask for shuttle service when we landed in Kuala Terengganu and they told us it's already fully booked and advised us to call Grab instead. Haha. So we took Grab and saved RM 20+. Yay!

This is the counter to get public ferry tickets to Redang Island at Shah Bandar jetty.

Ticket price:
Adult RM 55 per pax one way;
Child RM 30 pp one way.

Please check with your hotel/resort if your ferry to Redang Island is already included in room packages. If it's included in your package, you can go to their respective counter directly and there'll be someone there to guide you.
If I'm not mistaken, the public ferry departs at 10.30 a.m. and you're advised to be there by 10 a.m.

In our case, Laguna Redang provides private ferry to Redang Island and has a different departure time at 9 a.m. and another ferry at 11.30 a.m.
Please take note if you're taking early morning flight like us.
Please be there early and register at counter as it's first come first serve basis. If it's full then you might need to wait for the next ferry at noon.

The ferry would take roughly about 1.5-2 hours depending on weather conditions.
Around 11+ a.m., we finally arrived at this beautiful island!

Upon registration, meal vouchers given for us to claim our buffet meal. *Can't wait!

Around 12 noon, we were among the first few who go for our first buffet lunch.

How did we managed to finish all these? Hahaha!

Deluxe Pool View Room

There's a little story behind why we've gotten the Deluxe Pool View Room.
We wanted to wait till 1/6/18 for abolishment of GST.
While I was on a trip to Lombok from 1/6-12/6, my boyfriend was busying with his work too.
Until the night before our anniversary, he finally remembered to make the resort room bookings.
He called the resort to make the booking but to his horror, the rooms are all sold out.
He then checked on the websites, and luckily there's still Deluxe Pool View room available, which cost RM 848 per pax, but not the cheaper Deluxe Garden view that we wanted to book earlier (RM 808 per pax). Hahaha.

p/s: There's monkeys around the resort but since we're facing the pool we didn't see any. But if you're staying in Deluxe Garden view rooms, please take note and do not leave your belongings/clothes/life jacket on the balcony. We were told the monkeys will come and snatch it away.

Cost for our 3 days 2 night Deluxe Pool view room & snorkelling packages & full on board buffet meals

RM 848 per pax + RM 50pp/night (weekend surcharge if you stay on Friday & Saturday night) + RM30 snorkelling gears & life jacket = RM 928 per person x 2 pax = RM 1856.
Almost 2 thousands for 3 day 2 night + 3 snorkelling trips + 6 buffets (2 breakfast, 2 lunch, 2 dinner).

Some of you might be thinking, why is it so expensive?

First of all, I made a big mistake, of not checking out the resort prices before I book our flights.
That day when I just found out the flights were having promotion, I was really excited. I was even more excited when my boyfriend said he can take leave for this trip at Mid July. I was over the moon! So, with the fear of missing out on the flights promotion, I immediately purchased the flight tickets.
Then, when I was checking out the resorts, I just realized July is their PEAK season. Great. >.<

Few months after that, it's the Matta Fair. The same package  will only cost about rm 600+  but non applicable to weekends and peak season in July.
Gosh. I almost stab myself that time. HAHAHA!
So, if you are reading this, please do not repeat this same stupid mistakes as I did.

And of course, you could find cheaper packages from other resorts in Redang Island. There are plenty of resorts in the same stretch of long beach.

If, after comparing all the reviews on food, accommodation & overall experience, you still prefer to stay in Laguna Redang, (Honestly it is among the best resorts even though it's on the more pricey side)
then, please read on as I have a few tips to share on how to save some money there.


Tips on saving $:

1. Try to avoid coming during weekends as they have weekend surcharge at RM 50 per adult per night on Friday & Saturday. I assume nobody like paying extra RM 100-200 for nothing right? So if you can apply leave from work, my advice would be come check in at Sunday and you'll save ~RM200. You're welcome ;)
The same applies to Public Holiday & school holiday.
Avoid coming during Public Holiday & school holiday as the price increases dramatically during those periods.

2. Avoid coming at peak season (June-August) as it can be quite crowded. Imagine going snorkelling with 150+ people and you'll see more human beings in the sea than the fish. HAHA!

3. Wait for Matta fair in May. You can easily save few hundred bucks for the same package. No kidding. But usually non applicable to weekends check in. So, refer back to point #1.

4. Take Grab from Kuala Terengganu airport to Syah Bandar jetty seems to be the cheapest option for us. ~About RM 10+ (<RM20) one way.
