Venice - My favourite of them all
i love Venice! and i have no idea why.
i have heard a lot of not-so-nice comment about Venice, some say it's old and dirty, some say it's smelly.
but i just... fall for it.
i guess that's exactly that kind of feeling when you fall in love.
no matter what others have said, once you fall for it, you ll just see nothing else anymore. haha.
i could only say, i found that 'click' with Venice. ;)
our tour guide, Lenka, brought us to visit a mask shop, and the shop owner briefly told us about the history and origin of mask. (too bad now i have already forgotten most about it). i heard it was something like,
'The masks are typically worn during the Carnival (Carnival of Venice), but have been used on many other occasions in the past, usually as a device for hiding the wearer's identity and social status. The mask would permit the wearer to act more freely in cases where he or she wanted to interact with other members of the society outside the bounds of identity and everyday convention.' (thanks to google =P)
these distinctive masks were formed from paper-mache and wildly decorated with fur, fabric, gems, or feathers. and they are really very beautiful~~~ <3 <3 <3
next, we had the cheapest meal for lunch! a big piece of pizza, with coke and ice-cream, and it only cost us 5 euros!!! (rm20 for each person). yay for a cheap lunch! =D get to experience eating while sitting by the street too. ;P
then we were set free! have the whole afternoon free to do whatever we like over there!
so, there u go, time for endless photo taking session with each and every corner of this special place~
and of course there are a lot of shopssss! selling cloths and begs and souveniors! and they are incredibly nice~!
a hot afternoon, sitting in an air-conditioned coffee shop, having some chilling fresh juice, chit-chatting with tourmates, in a random corner of Venice.
it was definitely a lovely afternoon that i'll remember for a long long time. =)
after that, we went for Gondola~!!!
they said, if u never tried Gondola, you have never been to Venice. so there is no way for us to miss it!
even though it cost us 80euros(max 6 people). the cheapest we could get, for a short trip (he told us it'll be around 30min but i suspect it was less than that because it felt like it ended too soon!). oh ya, please remember to ask whether they provide some traditional music performance during the trip before u agree to have it, because sometimes they may assume u want it and then of course, charge u EXTRAS!
the feeling of the wind blowing at your face and hair softly, the sight of old yet beautiful buildings and bridges, the water that you could touch just by reaching out ur hand, the rhythmic sway sitting on the gondola.
it's simply unforgettable!

we had so much fun in Venice until we really didnt feel like leaving. but we had to. it was dinner time already without realizing time passes so soon. ='(
